Use a Crock Pot to Lose the Pounds

If ever there is a piece of kitchen equipment I recommend to a new client looking to lose weight, it’s a crock-pot. Whatever genius came up with this cooking instrument should be awarded a Nobel prize for advancing the human race. Why do I love the crockpot so you ask? Let me count the ways:

1) It’s Easy

Hands down the best thing about the crock pot is the ease of use. You don’t have to be Gordon Ramsay to use a crock pot and make a delicious meal. All you have to be capable of is adding your ingredients and hitting the time button. That’s it. If you can’t do that then wow…...just wow.

2) It Cooks While You Do Nothing

One of the biggest excuses I get about cooking is “I don’t have time”. Well I hate to tell you, but if you have time to stop for a caramel macchiato at Starbucks, you have time to make a crock pot meal. Crock-pots can cook while you sleep, or while you are at work. There is no need to check on it during the day, it knows what it’s doing. All you have to do is add the ingredients and you can wake up or come home to a nutritious and delicious meal with no waiting.

3) You Can Cook in Bulk

If you are cooking for one, it can seem daunting to pull out a bunch of ingredients and pans just to cook one meal for yourself. With the crock pot however you needn’t worry. You can cook and entire recipes, which will usually yield 4-6 servings, and package the rest for future lunches or dinners.

4) It Delicious

I have yet to make a crock pot meal that I didn’t like. Due to the fool-proof nature of this marvelous machine, you don’t have to worry about over-cooking something. If you get home late the only consequence will be that your meal is more tender, not such a bad thing. Using a crock pot can allow you to take even the cheapest cuts of meat and make them as tender as a $50 filet mignon from a steakhouse.

5) It Saves Time

Crock pots have minimal prep and cleanup time associated with their use. A knife, a cutting board, and the pot itself are the only things you will be left cleaning up at the end of the day. I will admit however that in my effort to find ways to be even lazier, I discovered an amazing little invention that basically allows you to cook your crock pot meal in a bag within the crock pot. So basically when my meal is done I lift the bag out of the pot and toss it in the trash. No need to even wipe the pot out.

Hopefully by now you see my point about why a crock pot is so wonderful, but that doesn’t mean you can just cook anything and be healthy. Check out this link at bodybuilding.com to get some amazing and tasty recipes that will help you take the weight off.
